Our Story
Years ago, when people started to wear extreme outdoor clothing in the city the idea for mvdham was born. On the bike, in the park or even at the theatre functional high tech jackets were everywhere. Indeed, very practical, way too technical but somehow extremly desirable…
But Frankly – these jackets are made for extreme conditions, they are 100% NOT NATURAL and their ecological footprint is tremendous. I wanted functional garments which carry the dream of the extreme but fit technically to my needs in the city. I wanted to wear natural fibers only and I wanted to stay LOCAL to keep my ecological footprint small.
This is what we are doing now. We take natural fibers and use their natural functions, our shapes carry the dream of the extreme, we define suitable functions and details for our urban needs, and we stay local with our production and suppliers. mvdham founder Miriam van der Ham lives and works in Berlin.
After her fashion studies at HS Pforzheim, she worked for several outdoor fashion brands as well as the cutting edge fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, who’s influence is visible in her latest collection. She has also been successful as a costume designer for movies and music videos, proving her talent to create inspiring and vivid characters in the NETFLIX original „How to Sell Drugs Online (fast)“ (nominated at official Cannes Series 2019 competition).
Her main focus right now is her new urban outdoor fashion brand mvdham, which recently won the ISPO Brandnew Award 2020.
